We Do Not Sell Your Personal Information
Clearly does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for monetary or other valuable consideration. We have never sold personal information and have no plans to do so.
Your Rights Under the CCPA
The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), gives California residents specific rights regarding their personal information:
- Right to Know: You can request information about the categories of personal information we collect, the purposes for collection, and the categories of third parties with whom we share your information.
- Right to Delete: You can request that we delete the personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions.
- Right to Correct: You can request that we correct inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.
- Right to Opt-Out of Sale/Sharing: You can direct businesses that sell your personal information to stop doing so. As stated above, Clearly does not sell your personal information.
- Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information: You can limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information to only what is necessary to provide the services.
- Right to Non-Discrimination: You cannot be discriminated against for exercising your CCPA rights.
How to Exercise Your Rights
Even though we do not sell your personal information, you can still exercise your other CCPA rights through the following methods:
Through the App
- Data Export: Go to Settings > Account > Export Data to download a copy of all your personal information in JSON format.
- Account Deletion: Go to Settings > Account > Delete Account to permanently delete your account and all associated data.
- Data Correction: Update your information directly through your account settings.
By Email
You can also submit requests by emailing us at privacy@clearly.money. Please include "California Privacy Request" in the subject line and specify which right you wish to exercise.
Verification Process
To protect your privacy and security, we must verify your identity before fulfilling your request. Our verification process includes:
- Email Verification: We will send a verification email to the email address associated with your account. You must confirm receipt to proceed.
- Account Information Matching: We may ask you to provide information that matches what we have on file to confirm your identity.
- Signed Declaration: For certain requests (such as deletion of sensitive data), we may require a signed declaration under penalty of perjury.
If we cannot verify your identity, we may not be able to fulfill your request to protect against fraudulent requests.
Authorized Agents
You may designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf. To do so:
- Provide written authorization signed by you designating the agent
- The agent must provide proof of their identity
- We may still require you to verify your identity directly
Response Timeline
In accordance with CCPA requirements:
- Acknowledgment: We will acknowledge receipt of your request within 10 business days.
- Response: We will respond to verifiable requests within 45 calendar days of receipt.
- Extension: If we need additional time (up to 90 days total), we will notify you in writing of the reason and extension period.
- Format: We will provide the requested information in a portable, readily usable format (typically JSON).
How We Use Your Data
Instead of selling your data, we use it only for the following purposes:
- Providing and improving our budgeting service
- Processing your financial calculations and displaying your budget
- Communicating with you about your account and our service
- Ensuring security and preventing fraud
- Complying with legal obligations

Service Providers
We share limited information with service providers who help us operate our service. These are not "sales" under the CCPA because:
- Service providers are contractually prohibited from using your data for their own purposes
- They may only use your data to provide services on our behalf
- They must maintain appropriate security measures
Our service providers include hosting providers (Vercel), database services (Neon), and authentication services (for optional Google sign-in).
